George McDonald was arrested and charged with entering the home of Theodica King, wife of the late Dentist, Ewart ‘Ells’ King, between March 3 and 4, 2012 and stealing a quantity of items amounting to more than $10,000.

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne, yesterday sentenced McDonald to 18 months for entering King’s house, and another 18 months for burglary. He was reprimanded for stealing the items.

The sentences will run concurrently.

Some of the stolen items include: power tools, jewellery and a stove.

The court heard that McDonald used to work at the King’s house as a gardener and shortly after her husband was killed, he was relieved of his duties.

At the sentencing, Browne told McDonald if he did not plead guilty and made the court go through a trial and was found guilty, he was going to send him to prison for five years.(KW)
