John’s murder case off to the High Court
The next time Dwayne Stephens, Kimron Neverson and Andre John appear in court, it will be before a judge and jury at the next practical sitting of the High Courtâs Criminal Assizes.{{more}}
Chief Magistrate Sonya Young, on Monday, March 12, at the Preliminary Inquiry, found that there was sufficient evidence against the three to send the matter to the High Court for trial.
The three men, all of Redemption Sharpes, are accused of the July 6, 2011 murder of Andy John, of the same address.
Attorney Arthur Williams made a no-case submission on Johnâs behalf, but his submission was overruled by Magistrate Young.
Over 15 prosecution witnesses were called to testify in the matter.
The men are also charged with using a firearm with intent to commit murder on Levi Lyttle of Redemption Sharpes and unlawfully discharging of a firearm at Lyttle.
The trio was again charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm at Kenroy Williams.
Andre John is charged with being in possession of a firearm without a license.
At about 2:00 am on Wednesday, July 6, gunshots were heard in Redemption Sharpes. When police responded to calls, Johnâs body was found with a gunshot wound to the back, in the area called âRocksâ in Redemption Sharpes.(KW)
