Constables Deshurn Denbar, 25, and Andy Richards, 24, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday February 8 and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Bail was set in the sum of $2,500 each.

Commissioner of Police, Keith Miller told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday night that in addition to being suspended, the men would only be receiving half month’s pay.

The men are alleged to have unlawfully and maliciously wounded Keith McDowall on October 29, 2011.

McDowall, a resident of Prospect, brought his plight to SEARCHLIGHT a few months ago, claiming that he was stabbed by a police officer while attending a dance at Huffles Ranch in Brighton.

McDowall stated that an argument had developed between one of his friends and another man in the dance.

He said that he attempted to break up the fight, and when he went outside, he was stabbed in his back.

The matter was adjourned to May 7 for hearing. (KW)
