Brothers guilty of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor
Brothers Jeffrey âD-rickâ Stapleton, 17, and Stephen âShinezâ Stapleton, 21 were spared a custodial sentence on Friday, January 27, after pleading guilty to having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 on September 30, 2010.{{more}}
After hearing testimony from the child about how both men held her hands and feet and took turns raping her, High Court judge Frederick Bruce-Lyle slapped the men with three-year suspended prison sentences.
The men, who conducted their own defence in the matter, had initially denied the charges laid against them when the matter was called up for hearing on January 25, 2012, at the High Courtâs Criminal Assizes.
Bruce-Lyle said he thought long and hard about his decision before passing down sentence.(KW)
