Peters, 63, a farmer, appeared at the Serious Offences Court and was not required to plead. He was charged with the attempted murder of Silma Phillips of Byera and for unlawfully and maliciously wounding Eva Patterson, 43, of Bequia and Phillips, 48.

On Saturday 24, while in Hamilton, Bequia, at about 4: 30 p.m., Phillips was slashed across her throat with a knife. She alleges that Peters attacked her because he felt she was cheating on him. The woman also claims that her attacker threatened to kill her when she refused to go with him.

She was allegedly pushed to the ground and cut with the knife.

During the alleged attack, Patterson, who told the man to leave the house, also sustained a cut on her neck from the knife.

Peters was remanded in custody, and the Preliminary Inquiry into both matters will commence on February 20, 2012. He was not legally represented.(KW)
