Ells pleads guilty to criminal trespassing

Lowmans Windward resident, Allan Ells told Chief Magistrate Sonya Young the reason he found himself lying in bed between two girls when he woke up, was because he was intoxicated.{{more}}

Ellls pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal trespass on Tuesday, December 28, at the Serious Offences Court and was sentenced to six months in prison.

The court heard that on November 30, 2010, the virtual complainant and her 11 and 13 year old daughters left their home to attended a function. When they returned home around 10:30 p.m., the two girls went to sleep in one bedroom while their mother slept in another.

Next morning, the two girls informed their mother that Ells had been in their room the night before. The matter was reported to the police and Ells was arrested and charged.

In his explanation to the court, Ells said: “I does always dey dey watching TV and I been by ah Labour (ULP) function and I been drunk, so I go in the house and sleep on the chair,” he said.

He admitted that no one let him into the house, but said that he kept calling out to the virtual complainant for some water, but he got no answer.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young chided Ells for his behaviour and underscored the importance of parents teaching their children to report such incidents.

“Suppose the woman had a “bullpistle” to deal with you? If I met you in my house, in my child’s bedroom, I have something better than a bullpistle. You weren’t making it out alive,” Young sternly said.(KW)
