Three Sharpes men on murder charge

Three young men from Redemption Sharpes are now on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison for causing the death of Esron “Banks” Ells.

The men{{more}}: Shawn Phillips, 27, Auto Body repair worker, Jabari Charles, 21, labourer, and Romano Pompey appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, June 22, jointly charged with Ells’s murder, which took place on June 18, 2010.

Ells, 22, also of Redemption Sharpes, died shortly after 10pm after he was gunned down in the area of the National Broadcasting Corporation building at Richmond Hill following an altercation with some men on Halifax Street in the area of the Postal Corporation building.

Ells died on his way to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound to his right cheek.

Lawyer Jomo Thomas represents Phillips , while the other men are unrepresented.

The matter was adjourned to September 24 for hearing.
