Vincy woman nabbed in Guyana with cocaine

A Vincentian woman residing in the United States of America was remanded in police custody in Guyana on Tuesday this week, after authorities there nabbed her with seven kilograms of cocaine.{{more}}

Alisha Joseph appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Reports coming out of Guyana stated that the Police Narcotic Branch caught Joseph around 8:20pm while she attempted to board a flight destined to the United States.

Kaieteur News Online in Guyana reports that Joseph arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on February 23, 2010, and was just about to board a Delta Airlines Flight. Police reportedly searched Joseph’s two suitcases and the cocaine was discovered concealed in packets of soymilk, folders and in books.

The online paper also stated that Joseph was expected to make another court appeareance yesterday.(KW)
