Hacksaw charged with burglary

Police have made a breakthrough in the burglaries that have been taking place in the Villa area.{{more}}

Campden Park resident Brent Hacksaw appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, February 10, and pleaded guilty to seven counts of burglary between November 20 and 21, 2009.

Hacksaw is said to have entered Catamarans docked at Young Island and stolen a large quantity of items from different persons valued at over $15,000.

It is said that Hacksaw stole a quantity of items, including a Dinghy valued at $9000, a Yamaha engine valued at $4,000, a gold chain, a Seiko watch, sneakers, backpacks and cash.

Prosecutor Inspector Nigel Butcher put forward an application to the court that Hacksaw’s matters be sent to the High Court for sentencing.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young granted Butcher’s request and the matter was sent to the High Court for sentencing.

Hackshaw told Senior Magistrate Donald Browne that he sold some of the items in exchange for marijuana. Most of the items stolen have not been recovered.(KW)
