Chief Magistrate Sonya Young sentenced the 40-year-old Calder resident on Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Serious Offences Court.

Regisford’s sentence comes exactly one week after he was found guilty of possession of a Cougar Beretta 9mm semi-automatic pistol and nine rounds of ammunition on October 23, 2007, at Bonhomme.

On the gun charge, he was slapped with a two-and-a-half-year sentence and one year on the ammunition. Both sentences will run concurrently.

It was heard in court that Police Officers went to Bonhomme acting on information received about Regisford. When they approached Regisford’s vehicle, Regisford was asked to turn off the engine. He refused to do so and escaped police custody.

The prosecution added that Regisford dropped the firearm when he fled the scene.(KW)
