Valcina Olliviere walked away from the courtroom a free woman on Monday as her case was struck out by the Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.{{more}}

Young struck out Olliviere’s case after the prosecution headed by Inspector Nigel Butcher said they have yet to receive an extensive medical report and they cannot proceed without the report.

Ollivierre can, however, be charged and re-arrested once the police have evidence to proceed. Ollivierre was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on her eleven-year-old daughter Terriese Ollivierre on May 17, 2009.

It was alleged that Ollivierre poured strong rum on the girl and lit her afire because she refused to peel green bananas.

It was also heard that the child ran to a nearby pipe and managed to put the fire out with water. Other residents of the area took the child for medical treatment.(OS)
