The 29-year-old Sion Hill resident was charged for obtaining by deception US$1, 390 on January 29, 2009, from Christol Browne, of Kingstown, and on January 30, 2009, he obtained a further EC$1,500 from Browne.

The accused, Smith is also charged for obtaining a further EC$425.50 on February 2, 2009.

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne said that Smith’s actions seem to be a daily affair and a habit of the defendant.

Police Prosecutor Sgt Glenford Gregg objected to bail being granted to Smith because he has several matters of a similar nature pending at the Serious Offences Court. Magistrate Browne is expected to deliver his decision today on whether or not to grant bail to the accused. Smith is being represented by Lawyer Grant Connell. (VM)
