PI into infant death coming to close

The preliminary inquiry into the death of 18-month-old Jaden Commissiong continued this week, with evidence given by a number of officials for the prosecution.{{more}}

Commisiong died on August 1st last year, as a result of internal injuries.

His step father Zannal Iton was arrested and charged with his death.

As the Inquiry resumed on Tuesday at the Serious Offences Court, testimony was heard from Dr. Tracee Barnard, a pathologist at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Barnard performed the autopsy on toddler, and prepared the Post Mortem report.

Also giving evidence was Station Sergeant Trevor Bailey, assigned to the Criminal Investigations Department at the Calliaqua Police Station. He took a statement from the accused.

Justice of the Peace Ricardo McDonald, who witnessed Iton making his statement to Bailey, also testified on Tuesday.

One other prosecution witness was scheduled to testify on Thursday.

The court will next hear testimony from witnesses on behalf of Iton, whose address was given as Georgetown.

The 23-year-old Iton is being defended by Ronald Marks. (JJ)
