$600 fine for weed

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young fined Aliston Hackshaw $600 at the Serious Offences Court on Monday for having in his possession 227 grams of cannabis in Ashton Union Island on Saturday, November 22.{{more}}

The Water Taxi Operator pleaded guilty to the charge and was ordered to pay his fine in two days or spend the next six months in prison.

The Court heard that the 25-year-old Glen resident came ashore from a boat and during a search of this person by police officers, they found the illegal substance. He was cautioned and said: “It’s just a small thing to smoke”. Hackshaw was represented by Lawyer Olin Dennie. (VM)
