Labourer charged with Layne’s $40,000 heist

Local police have nabbed one man in connection with the $40,000 heist at Edwin D. Layne & Son, which is said to have occurred between September 27-29, 2008 at the department store in Kingstown.{{more}}

Thirty-seven-year-old labourer, Jerome Blucher of Rillan Hill appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Monday November 11th to answer theft charges and was granted bail in the sum of $45,000 with one surety.

He was not allowed to plea to the charge.

Information in the matter stated that EC$14,460, US$100, BD$500 and cheques valued at 16,875.84 were removed from a secure area of the store where money is normally stored.

As part of Blucher’s bail condition, he is to report to the Questelles Police Station on Mondays between 6am and 6pm. The matter was adjourned to January 9, 2009 for hearing. (KW)
