Alexander James and Delano Jackson, 24 year old construction workers, along with 25 year old sailor, Shadiek Shallow, all of Mesopotamia, were arrested and charged with gun and ammunition possession.

This is after the vehicle they were driving in on Tuesday, July 15th, was stopped and searched in the Cane Garden area and a .38 Special Cobra revolver, three rounds of .38 Special bullets and one .380 bullet were retrieved.

The men who pleaded not guilty were granted bail in the sum of EC$12,000 each with one surety.

They had to surrender their passports and are required to report to the police once a week; Jackson and James to the Marriaqua Police Station on Mondays between 6pm to 12 noon, while Shallow will do the same at the Port Elizabeth Police Station in Bequia.

Claiming that the evidence held by the prosecution was very slender, Marks requested from Chief Magistrate Sonia Young a report date, to which she approved and set for August 5th, which may be followed by a hearing date of August 26th.

Police investigations are continuing.
