Wizzy safer in jail

Director of Public Prosecutions Colin Williams thinks that Fitz-Allen “Wizzy” Bramble is much safer at Her Majesty’s Prison.{{more}}

Williams’ aired his concern at the opening of the Criminal Assizes on Tuesday when the matter of Bramble’s bail arose.

Bramble was committed to stand trial for robbing Wendell Antrobus of $3454 at gunpoint on June 17, 2006 at Redemption Sharpes. He was also charged with discharging a firearm in the public road.

Williams objected to Bramble’s bail on the grounds that the co-accused in the matter, Kimorn McDowall was gunned down in Redemption Sharpes. He also noted that the sons of the Wendell Antrobus were recently brought before the Serious Offences Court on gun and ammunition possession charges. He also drew to the attention of the court the fact that Wendell Antrobus had been shot in his head earlier this year.

Presiding Judge Gertel Thom said that if Bramble’s lawyer, who was not present in court, made bail applications on his behalf, she would consider giving him bail.
