Seventeen-year-old Drexel Andrews, a student at the Dr JP Eustace Memorial Secondary School, was last Friday, at the Serious Offences Court, committed to stand trial in the High Court on a charge of Manslaughter.

Andrews was charged with causing the death of 18-year-old Franko “Ozo” Roberts on Wednesday March 7, 2007 at around 7:30am.

Roberts’ death was at the time treated as a self-inflicted accident. Reports indicated that Roberts was showing another relative how to operate the 9mm pistol he had brought home the previous night. The gun, according to reports, went off and he was shot in the head. It was, however, not until October that same year that Andrews was charged. (KW)
