Pig farmer warned to leave drug game

Fraser, 20, of Kingstown, pleaded guilty on Monday at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court to having eight grams of cocaine in his possession on May 16th at Paul’s Avenue.

Information surfacing at the court stated that at about 12:40pm, officers from the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) were on mobile patrol in the area when the defendant was seen walking towards the mobile police station. As he got closer, one of the officers said something to Fraser and he began running. After being caught, he was searched, and a transparent plastic bag with 44 packages of cocaine in aluminum foil wrapping were found. He was cautioned and admitted that the drugs belonged to him.

Attorney Bayliss Frederick said that his instructions were that Fraser was on his way home when the officers approached him. Frederick said that they grabbed Fraser around his neck and asked where he was going. Frederick told the Court that his client claimed that the police pulled out the bag of cocaine from somewhere and were trying to pin it on his client as the owner.

Senior Magistrate Donald Browne asked Fraser where he got the cocaine from, but retracted. “No, well I don’t want you to tell me because we might be going to your funeral. They are shooting people if you talk,” said Browne.

Fraser also came in for a scolding from the Magistrate. “Why have you gotten yourself into the drug business? You are a fine looking young man. You know if you fail the drug lords, they will shoot you. Do your pig farming and get out of this,” Browne warned.
