Another teen charged with rape
A week after a teenager was brought before the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court on a double rape charge, another teen was charged with rape on Monday this week.{{more}}
Shimite Joseph, 17, of Vermont, was arrested and charged with having unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13. The incident is alleged to have taken place on August 30, 2007.
He was not allowed to plead to the charge and was granted $10,000 bail by Senior Magistrate Donald Browne. Parts of Josephâs bail conditions require that he report to the Vermont Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 6am and 6pm. He was also placed on a 10pm to 6am curfew.
Adding to his woes, Joseph was bonded for six months on a second charge of wounding. Failure to keep the bond, Joseph will have to pay $1,000 or spend six months in prison.
The rape matter was transferred to the Family Court.
