Brothers walk free

Two brothers walked free from the Serious Offences Court last week Thursday when the prosecution discontinued their case in a murder matter that was lingering over their heads for close to a year.{{more}}

Joel Hannaway, 22, and his younger brother Carlson, 21, both of Barrouallie, were jointly charged in connection with the murder of Oran Mason, 44, of Chateaubelair, between July 4 and 5, 2006. Mason was found on July 6 in a partly burnt shed, with a gunshot wound, in the Barrouallie mountains. He was last seen on July 4th.

Witnesses called on the day of the Preliminary Inquiry failed to turn up at the Serious Offences Court to give evidence in the matter. It was also stated that there was insufficient evidence against both men to go ahead with the case.
