At a Preliminary Inquiry on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, Chief Magistrate Sonya Young found that there was sufficient evidence for Jacobs to stand trial in the High Court.

Jacobs was charged on July 11, 2006 with causing the death of his common law wife, Ann-Marie Ledger of Diamond.

The one-day Preliminary Investigation saw a total of nine witnesses, including two children of the deceased.

Ledger was chopped to death on July 7, 2007, in the presence of her children. She had her left arm severed, while her right forearm was left barely hanging at the elbow. She was also chopped across her face.

The post mortem read by Surgical Pathologist Dr Ronald Child revealed that Ledger died as a result of numerous chop wounds about her body.

It was said that Jacobs and Ledger had a rocky relationship, which spanned over eight years and produced three children.(KW)
