Steve DeRoche pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by Senior Magistrate Donald Browne. DeRoche was ordered to report to the Central Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 6am and 6pm. He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents.

Prosecutor Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher made an application that DeRoche’s bail be denied, since the matter involved the three men who were arrested on kidnapping charges just over two weeks ago. Khamal DeRoche, 24, businessman of Sion Hill, Derrick Ryan, 28, Mason and Jahkim Poon, 25, contractor of Trinidad, were arrested and jointly charged with kidnapping Kenneth Rogers Morgan of Lowmans Leeward on November 18, 2007, at Lowmans Leeward.

The prosecutor said that the virtual complainant has expressed fear in relation of the defendant.

The matter is due back in Court on January 15, 2008.
