‘I didn’t take none of dem things dey’ – Youth

“I only took the phone and the bullet!”

This was the cry of 22-year-old Christopher Laborde of Barrouallie after he was charged with entering the property of Robert Grant of Mt. Pleasant, Bequia and stealing money, a phone and a watch and having in his possession 2 rounds of ammunition without a licence.{{more}}

Laborde, who was remanded in custody until Tuesday, December 4, admitted only to taking the phone and the ammunition, and pleaded not guilty to taking the money and the watch when he appeared before Coroner Stephens Huggins at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

“I didn’t take none of dem things dey. The money the police found on me was my money,” he complained.

In objecting to his bail, Prosecutor Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher said that Laborde has a history of offences against him and he does not have a stationery place of residence. He also pointed out that where there is ammunition, there might be a gun.

“Sir I have a young one month old child to maintain,” Laborde pleaded to the Huggins as he asked to be released on bail. “I don’t have any gun sir. Is the same place I found the bullets,” he continued. (SB)
