Biabou man sentenced to four years imprisonment for ammo possession

Jerome Fernandez, 27, an auto repairman of Biabou was sentenced to four and a half years imprisonment last Friday at the Serious Offences Court after he was found guilty of being in possession of 55 rounds of 12 gauge shot gun ammunition cartridges on April 4, 2007.{{more}}

The court heard that the defendant was seen walking with a bag along the Mt Grenan public road when members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) travelling in the opposite direction observed him acting suspiciously.

The police transport then turned back and approached the defendant. By this time he had already thrown away the bag.

The bag was however retrieved by the officers who cautioned him. Fernandez replied, “I ha two young children to mind and I jus mekin a hustle to help out.”
