Man blames media for his trouble with the law

One man has made it abundantly clear that the media is one of the reasons why trouble seems to follow him.

Nathan Hamilton, a deportee from the United States, and a resident of Arnos Vale told Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman on Monday that it is because of the recent publication in local newspapers of his criminal conduct, why the police are constantly harassing him.{{more}} “All I am trying to do is make a living, I am a working man and is like anything happen in Canouan, they always seem to blame me because of the newspapers.”

Hamilton was sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to criminal trespass on March 10, 2007 in Canouan.

The court heard that the virtual complainant was at the beach playing tennis during which she observed the defendant looking at her for over four hours. The complainant then went home and while inside she heard someone speaking on the porch.

When she went outside she met Hamilton standing there. She then asked the defendant what he was doing there and he said nothing. The police were called in on the matter and Hamilton was arrested and charged.

In his explanation to the court, Hamilton said that he knew the lady and was having a conversation with her at the time. “I saw lady on the porch with a guitar and I passed back and started talking to her.”

Just last December, Hamilton was hauled before the Magistrate’s court for criminal trespass and on three counts of indecent exposure and was bonded for three years. He is said to have exposed his penis in the Arnos Vale public road.
