Arnos Vale man shoots bartender over payment

A 40 year old contractor of Arnos Vale has been remanded to her Majesty’s Prison for unlawfully and maliciously wounding Bartender Karen John on December 28 2006 at her work place at Fun City, Lower Bay Street.

David Debique appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday but was not required to plea because the charge is an indictable one.{{more}} The court was told that at about 6 pm Debique purchased items and payment was not made forthwith upon receiving the items. John is said to have asked him for the monies to be paid when he became annoyed. An argument ensued between the two, as a result Debique is alleged to have taken a revolver from his pocket and shot her in the chest.

Defense Attorney for Debique, Arthur Williams asked the court to grant his client bail as he was going to the bank to get the money for John to go to Trinidad to receive medical treatment.

Prosecutor Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher however objected to Debique’s bail on the grounds that John was still in critical condition.

Debique is due back in court on January 9 when the state of the victim is to be revealed.
