Clifton Davy, 26, of Georgetown quickly escaped painting himself in a corner at the Serious Crimes Court on Monday.

The young painter did not waste the Court’s time and pleaded guilty to having 16 grams of cannabis in his possession. {{more}}

Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman gave him until 12 pm to pay a fine of $70. Members of the Narcotics Squad, who were patrolling the Georgetown area on Sunday December 3, met the defendant walking along the public road.

Apparently noticing the police presence Davy started running.

His run was however short-lived when the police caught him and retrieved a bag that he had dropped.

In the bag was plant material resembling cannabis. He was cautioned and replied, “Officer Give me ah chance na”.

Davy told the court that the cannabis was for his own use and it was never his intention to supply it.
