Farmer to fork out $2,000 for 620 grams of canabis
Jason Browne has to plough out $2,000 in two months or he stands going to jail for three months for possession of cannabis. The Villa resident, who makes a living as a farmer, did not waste the court’s time and pled guilty to the charge on Wednesday when he appeared at the Serious Crimes Court in Kingstown.
The 22-year-old was caught in Fancy on October 17, 2006 with 620 grams of cannabis with intent to supply.{{more}}
Around 5:10 p.m. that day, Police Constable 93, Dwayne Bailey, was in the Fancy vicinity and received certain information. As a result, the officer went to an area where there was a sign marked âFancyâ on it.
Apparently recognising Officer Bailey, Browne threw a white bag pack over an embankment. The bag was retrieved and searched in his presence. Upon the search, two black plastic bags tied together were found. The bags contained the plant materials resembling that of cannabis.
He was taken to the narcotics base where the drugs were weighed in his presence and amounted to 620 grams.
