Trini to be deported

Police are seriously cracking down on persons entering these shores illegally.

And last Monday at a hearing at the Magistrate’s Court in Kingstown, Minka Hakim, a 28-year-old fisherman of Trinidad and Tobago, was issued with a deportment order and also fined $500 forthwith or in default, spend two months in this state’s male correctional facility.{{more}} Hakim pleaded guilty to the offence right away.

Reports stated that Hakim entered Union Island on June 5 by boat and disembarked without permission of the immigration department. At 5:40 a.m. on July 1, he was picked up in Georgetown by police officials.

It was said that the defendant admitted to entering the state by way of speedboat and without travel documents.
