Guilty was the recurring reply that 31-year-old Lennox Phillips gave to Justice Frederick Bruce Lyle at the High Court in the Kingstown last Wednesday morning as 18 charges ranging from aggravated burglary, indecent assault and rape were read to him.

The offences carried penalties of up to 15 years each and totalled 154 years. But he will serve 20 years behind bars as the sentences will run concurrently.{{more}}

Phillips, of Hadley’s Village, was charged with committing a series of offences between 2004 and 2005, in areas such as Ratho Mill, Brighton, Mt.Pleasant and Argyle. On the day of sentencing, Phillips displayed no sign of remorse as he sat in the prisoners box listening to charges being read.

“You are a sick human being, I am going to use the law to its maximum,” said Justice Frederick Bruce Lyle.

After hearing his sentences on the different charges, Phillips told Justice Bruce Lyle that he consumes alcohol regularly and abuses marijuana. “You plan your crimes and this has to stop, the society is under siege,” remarked Justice Lyle.

At the end of the sentencing Justice Lyle commended the police for their thorough and speedy investigation.
