“Is the first time I ever did it, is a man give me dem to sell and say he would give me something.” Those were the words uttered by Raphique Dalzell, a security guard of Park Hill, as he was fined $900 for possession of cocaine and cannabis.

When the young man appeared before Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman, he pleaded guilty to both charges.{{more}}

Dalzell was charged for having 35 grams of cannabis and 2.5 grams of cocaine in his possession.

The court heard that about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) were on mobile patrol in Park Hill when they saw the defendant in an abandoned building gambling. The RRU personnel then intervened and found a bag containing 35 grams of cannabis and a small bottle filled with several aluminum foil packets containing the cocaine substance. “Ah buy the crack in town fo $50 and sell two for $10 and ah buy de weed fo $10,” said Dalzell. He, however, has until June 30 to pay the fine or in default four months imprisonment.
