Chauncey man fined $10,000 for drugs

June 30, 2006 is a date that Noel Foye should never forget.

Foye, a labourer of Chauncey was fined $10,000 last Monday morning at the Serious Offences Court for having in his possession 3,554 grams of cannabis at Chauncey on April 24, 2006.{{more}}

Foye entered a plea of guilty when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman.

The Court was told that on April 24 at about 4:50 a.m. Police went to the defendant’s home to execute a search warrant. While carrying out the search, a red and yellow plastic bag was found in a bucket next to his bedroom. Before the officers could say anything, Foye said, “Is my weed, ah soldier bring it fo me yesterday.”

Magistrate Churaman asked the slender Foye, “Why did you have the drugs?” He replied,

“Is ah man give me to hold until he pass back. Yo ovas?” If Foye does not come up with the money by June 30, he will spend nine months at this country’s male correctional facility.
