Thirty-two cases for February Assizes

Last Tuesday, February 7, 2006, marked the start of the February Criminal Assizes at the High Court in Capital City Kingstown with some 32 cases up for trial.

Some of the cases set for the Assizes are: Leonard ‘Toco’ O’ Garro who was charged with the murder of Ronald Lewis of Richmond Hill; Webster Woodley, Michael Samuel and Sheldon Bain are also expected to answer for the murder of Peter “Kazaman” Joseph of Lodge Village. All three accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Accused murderers Shorn Gorge and Orlando Lampkin will also be called to stand trial for the murder of former police Elson Richardson.{{more}}

Most of the matter were stepped down to later in the assizes and some were placed on the short list.

Monday, February 13 was the date set by Director of Public Prosecution, Colin Williams, for all the sureties to be present at the court. Presiding Judge was Justice Gertel Thom.
