The Prosecution stated that on Tuesday 20 September at Richland Park, the police were on mobile patrol when they saw the defendant sitting on a pile of stones acting suspiciously. The police then identified themselves and asked to conduct a search, which he consented to.

Upon conducting their search, they found a black bag with 37 packs of foil paper containing the controlled substance. Phillips replied to the officers by saying, “Officer, yo found dem on me, na my own.” He was subsequently taken to the narcotics base where he was charged.

“Cocaine is a very dangerous substance, think of the 37 minds you could have destroyed.” said Magistrate Joseph. His Lawyer, Ronald Marks, begged for the court’s mercy on his client as it was his first offence.
