The Family Court President ordered the young man’s father to pay one thousand, six hundred dollars for the firearm and ammunition by last Monday, July 25, or spend 8 months in prison. The charges were read out to the father because of the boy’s age. The boy was arrested and charged after members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU), while patrolling the Lowmans Hill area on Wednesday 13th July, found the youth with a .45 semi-automatic West Hurley firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition.

When he appeared before the Family Court last Thursday, the youngster claimed in his defence that he had found the weapon and ammunition in the hills.
