Former NCB worker faces fraud charge

Former National Commercial Bank (NCB) employee, Alicia Kirby of Barrouallie is to appear before the Serious Offences Court on March 3, for the start of a Preliminary Inquiry into a litany of offences committed against the state-owned financial institution . {{more}}

Kirby is accused of twenty -two counts of fraud. She has been charged for allegedly making eleven false instruments and using eleven false instruments to obtain sums of money from her place of employment.

Police allege that Kirby withdrew sums of money from the accounts of some bank customers and wrote and signed withdrawal slips in the names of the customers.

Kirby appeared before the Serious Offences Court Wednesday morning for the previously scheduled start of the PI. But, police prosecutor, Sergeant Adolphus Delpesche told the court that the prosecution was not ready to proceed because there were files which were yet to be served on the defence counsel. He said there was a problem with having the documents photocopied and admitted that he often had problems with getting photocopies.

Delpesche also told the court he was informed by the Criminal Investigations Department that investigations were continuing.
