Accused to know fate in father’s murder

Forty-one year old Graham Tittle of South Union has to wait until March 1 to know whether he would be committed to stand trial for the murder of his sixty five year old father, Isaac Pompey.{{more}}

The Preliminary Inquiry into the September 28, 2004 murder began before the Serious Offences Court Wednesday morning, but hearing was adjourned after hearing from three of seven prosecution witnesses listed to give evidence.

Tittle allegedly inflicted a mortal wound to his father’s chest with a cutlass on Tuesday 28 September, last year.

Pompey met his death less than three hours after the Serious Offences Court placed him on a bond for assaulting and wounding his son.

It was a bizarre twist in an on-going feud, which saw the assailant becoming the victim. On the previous evening, the elderly Pompey had inflicted multiple cutlass wounds on his son. Tittle allegedly chopped his father with a cutlass on September 28 last year, in an apparent expression of dissatisfaction with the outcome of a case before the Serious Offences Court earlier that day.

Reports say Tittle was at a shop at South Union when he saw his father alight from a passenger bus. There was an argument between both men and Tittle took a cutlass and chopped him across the chest.

Pompey went to the shop where he succumbed to the cutlass wound. The murder weapon was recovered near the shop the next day.
