Cop charged for abducting schoolgirls
A police officer of Gibson Corner and a painter of Sion Hill have been charged for abducting two young school- girls.
Police constable Curtis Williams and Sandel Williams, both 21, are accused of using force to induce a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old to go from Mesopotamia to Argyle on November 13. {{more}}
It is alleged that some time after 9 p.m. on Saturday, 13 November, Williams, the police officer, accompanied by Sandel Williams, drove his car to Mesopotamia in search of one of the two students. He later met and spoke with her, following which he offered her a ride to Chappieâs Riverside Disco in Mesopotamia. But, he drove past the disco and headed in the direction of Belmont.
Information received also said that the girls screamed and demanded that they be let out of the car. When the car stopped at La Croix, they got out and began walking back to Mesopotamia. As they walked, the policeman and his friend drove up to them, alighted and forced them back into the car. The schoolgirls were driven to Argyle around midnight and left there alone as the police officer and his friend drove away.
The two accused men were granted ten thousand dollars bail Monday when they appeared before the Serious Offences Court, charged with abduction.
Both men have been placed on curfew from 9 p.m to 6 a.m. daily and they have been ordered to report to the Central Police Station on Wednesdays and Fridays between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
They are scheduled to reappear in court on January 12, next year for the preliminary inquiries.
Meanwhile, the police constable has also been charged with stealing a Sony Ericcson cellular phone, valued at $198 from one of the teenagers on November 13. The hearing into this charge is also listed for January 12, next year.
The accused men are being represented by the law firm of Williams, Williams and Williams.
