‘Terrorist’ gets 6 more years

A labourer of Hadley’s Village got his two year jail term extended last Friday when the High Court imposed another sentence on him.

Lennox Phillips, 30, was sentenced to six years for a number of aggravated burglary charges. He had pleaded guilty to the charges before the Serious Offences Court earlier in the month, but Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman had sentenced him to a total of two years on some other charges. She remitted the other matters to the High Court for sentencing because she thought the crimes deserved penalties more severe than was allowed at the magisterial level.{{more}}

Phillips embarked on a crime spree between April and August this year, terrorizing communities between Biabou and Mt. Pleasant on the Windward side of the island.

Phillips’ crimes ranged from burglary, aggravated burglary and criminal trespass, to discharging a firearm and possessing a firearm and ammunition.
