Grenadians, Vincy held for robbery

Police on Tuesday arrested and charged three men for the Sunday evening robbery of the Richardson Motors gas station at Arnos Vale.

The three, Grenadian national Elvin Barry, alias ‘Plank’, and Vincentian nationals Elsworth “Jah Stone” Samuel of Questelles and Rohan Parris of Campden Park were arrested and charged Tuesday. {{more}}They were taken before the Serious Offences Court Wednesday and were remanded in custody.

Reports say that at about 9.30 p.m. Sunday, four men were involved in the robbery where two female and one male worker were held up. The bandits escaped with over EC$1,000 and US$80 in cash and a quantity of phone cards valued over $15,000

Police said Wednesday that some cash was recovered along with a number of phone cards. And a white Escudo motor vehicle, RK16, believed used in the crime, was recovered.

Sources say the quick use of the phone cards by the fugitives may have provided a valuable lead for the police to close in on the suspects.

Phillip, wanted for murder in Grenada, was one of two Grenadian fugitives captured at Layou during a joint operation involving officers from the Layou Police Station, the Rapid Response Unit and the Narcotics Division Wednesday. The other fugitive caught was Rudolph Hall who was also wanted for murder.

Meanwhile, another Grenadian, Lindon Lambert, captured Monday, was also charged with possessing a nine millimeter pistol and eight rounds of nine millimeter hallow-point ammunition without licences.
