Charles, O’Garro judgment still at large

The public, anxiously awaiting a judgment from the Court of Appeal, will have to wait a while longer.
The public had anticipated that the judgment on the appeal by convicted murderers Ken Charles and Leonard O’ Garro would have been delivered during the September sitting of the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal here. {{more}}But, the matter was not listed for the sitting of the court, which took place here this week.
Charles (24) and O’Garro (35), both of Barrouallie, were sentenced to hang last year for the murder of thirty-two-year old accountant Ronald Lewis.
Lewis and his companion, Shelly-Ann of Bequia, were shot in the area of Mt. Wynne on the evening of April 12, 2002. Lewis died on the spot, and was transported to the Mt. Wynne Beach where his body was buried in three feet of sand. Gregg, who survived her gunshot wounds, was driven from Mt. Wynne to the Argyle Beach on the windward side of the island. She managed to escape from her captors around one o’clock the following
morning.
O’ Garro and Charles, represented by Nicole Sylvester and Richard Williams, appealed their conviction and death penalty. After the matter was heard in June this year, the Court of Appeal reserved its judgement.
