Five murder accused to know fate soon

Five young men from the Rillan Hill and Chauncey areas will have to wait until June 7, to know whether they will be committed to stand trial for murder.
Hilton Bennette, Maxwell Phillips, Martin Phillips, Kenford Samuel and Samanthius Gould are accused of the August 6, 2003 murder of Cameron “Kalange” Arrindell of Penniston, formerly of Park Hill. {{more}}
Arrindell’s body was discovered in a pool of blood on the Penniston public road in the wee hours of the morning on August 6. He had a gunshot wound to his chest.
A 12-guage live round of ammunition and a spent 12-guage shell were found not far from Arrindell’s body, while another spent shell was found under a bed at Arrindell’s home. Blood stains were also on the doorway and a bullet hole with pellet scars were also on the galvanize gate.
Police had also taken in their custody a white Nissan motor car, P635, which had multiple pellet holes on the left side.
The preliminary inquiries into the matter, which began last week Wednesday before the Serious Offences Court, continued Wednesday morning with evidence by Justices of the Peace, Shirley Lynch-White and Donald Peters; Police photographer, Inspector Franklyn James, and Sergeant Joel Billingy of the Vermont Police Station.
The hearing was adjourned at the request of Police prosecutor, Sergeant Adolphus Delpesche, who told the court that the arresting officer, Sergeant Sydney James, was out of the country.
Delpesche said Sgt. James is expected to be the final witness.
Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman adjourned hearing to June 6, when she said it is hoped the matter will conclude.
The accused are being represented by Bayliss Frederick, Rochelle Forde and Ronald Marks.
