Youngster on bail for burglary

Twenty-one year-old Nigel Jones of Frenches has been charged for burglarising a business place at Arnos Vale.
Jones is accused of entering D & J Rentals as a trespasser between April 23 and 24 and stealing two laptop computers, an auto transmission and other items valued EC$25,000, the property of Jeffrey Richards of Arnos Vale.{{more}}
It is alleged that Jones was hired by someone to transport some of the items alleged to have been stolen. Police recovered some items during investigations.
Police picked up Jones, questioned and released several times before he was finally charged on Monday. However, according to information, his lawyer advised him not to give police any statement because of certain circumstances, which deprived him of his rights under the law while he was in custody as a suspect at the Criminal Investigations Department.
Jones was taken before the No. 2 Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on last week Monday. His charge is indictable and he was not allowed to plea. He was released on bail of $5,000 with one surety. One condition is that he reports to the Central Police Station every Friday.
Jones is scheduled to return to court July 12, this year, for the beginning of the preliminary inquiries into the charge.
