Monique: Proud national from birth

Monique Cuffy is another one of the 17 “independence babies” born the same day as the nation – October 27, 1979.

The affable and friendly Monique enjoys traveling and it should come as no surprise then that she is a Travel Agent with Travel and Tours.

She enjoys meeting people and cherishes the hospitality of others.

She was raised in Three Acres but now lives in the quiet Peters Hope with her husband Philcol Jeffers. They love the quiet surroundings.

Unlike some of the other independence babies, Monique remained in St Vincent.

“St Vincent and the Grenadines is one of the best Caribbean islands, it is like paradise. I like it,” she said.

Second to her job as a travel agent, she likes being in the kitchen “trying out new recipes”. {{more}}

That again is typically Vincentian, for with the abundance of food grown in Vincentian soil on account of ash from the Soufriere volcano, there is always something to cook. Her favourite dish is stewed turkey and rice and peas.

Monique is instinctively in the spotlight, for every time Independence comes around, she doesn’t have to worry about a celebration, and the entire nation observes it with her.

Her advice to others is: “Keep God first in everything. Give it your all. Don’t say ‘I can’t’, always try.”

She is the daughter of Corren and Alban Cuffy of Barrouallie.

Monique married Philcol Jeffers three years ago. They are an example of the Vincentian family, ensconced in the quiet environs of Peters Hope.
