Drama, song and dance were all highlighted as well as the Month’s theme, “Sharing our faith in a complex world.”

When the final count was done, the Marriaqua Methodist Youth Group emerged as the overall winners of the month of activities by chalking up a total of three hundred and forty one points. Decked in traditional wear with colourful hats and an array of colours and baskets filled with fruit, the soulful group walked away with best folk song entitled, “Balancé.” They had the audience applauding and shouting at the top of their lungs. Also sharing the spotlight was the Spring Village Methodist Youth Group who won in the drama category with their piece called, “Standing for God.” The vibrant youth dramatized some of the social ills plaguing the world and showed how they are fighting an everyday battle to share their faith as Christians and be strong witnesses for God. Kingstown was second in line with Marriaqua placing third.

Kingstown Methodist youth group placed first in the music category with an original song entitled “I am the way.” The youth group was well attired for the occasion wearing, sailing hats and bandanas wrapped around their neck in depiction of the line,”sailing, sailing, sailing across the river.” Not far behind was Marriaqua followed by Mt. Coke Methodist.

The Layou Methodist Church came out victorious in the dance competition with a captivating number appropriately named, “Call on Jesus.” The next Youth Month will be held February next year.
