Synopsis of Clico’s Chairman

Mr. Leroy Parris is the Chairman of Clico Holdings B’dos Ltd., his most recent appointment bestowed on him in 2003.
He joined Colonial Life in 1979 as a Life Underwriter and within a very short period became one of the leading Underwriters in the Insurance Industry in the Region. {{more}}
He distinguished himself by qualifying consistently for the Company’s Leaders Club and the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table. MDRT is an international, independent association of more than 28 000 of the world’s best life insurance and financial services professionals from 74 nations and territories.
In 1986, he was bestowed the honour of Life Membership and in 1987, because of his outstanding performance in Life Insurance Sales he was invited to sit at the court of the Table (the Inner Circle) by William S. Poyner 111, President of MDRT. It was the first time that this honour had been bestowed on a Barbadian.
In 1986, Mr. Parris formed his own company, Professional Financial Services Inc., a sales agency of Colonial Life Insurance Company (Trinidad) Ltd. During that period,
he continued to excel and his
natural managerial talents became apparent. Professional Financial Services became the most successful agency at Colonial Life.
In February 1989, Mr. Parris was appointed General Manager of Colonial Life with responsibility
for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
Four years later, in 1993, Mr. Parris was appointed President of Clico Holdings (B’dos) Ltd. with responsibility for directing the management of all subsidiaries, Caribbean Commercial Bank, Caribbean Commercial Trust (now Clico Mortgage and Finance Corp.) Clico International Life Insurance Ltd., Clico International General Insurances Ltd., Clico Property Development Inc. British Fidelity, and eight sugar estates. He was a member of the Board of Directors of all the Companies.
Under his tenure as President, the assets of the Clico Holdings Group grew significantly over the years. One of the leading financial institutions in the Caribbean, Clico Holdings B’dos Ltd. has substantial investments in housing and real estate in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.
Some of the most recent projects under Mr. Parris’ stewardship include the construction of the Clico Financial Centre at Worthing, the Crystal Court 44 Condominium Development at Crystal Heights as well as housing Developments in Antigua, St. Kitts and St. Vincent.
Mr. Parris embraces the company motto “Clico is People” by positioning Clico as a leading provider of financial security and protection for Caribbean nationals through sound investments, growth and development.
