Nelson Bloc lights up festival

Digicel Nelson Bloc, reigning Band of the Year titleholders, have given some indication that they will be in the running this year to retain the honours. When the Sections and Individuals from the Bands competition came off last Monday, Nelson Bloc copped both titles. {{more}}
Their section Diwali – Festival of Light – outshone the others while Jolene Wynne depicting “Carib Heritage” ensured Nelson Bloc’s triumph in the Individual competition.
Nelson Bloc marked their 20th anniversary last year with another hat-trick of Band of the Year titles. Their 2004 presentation was “Our Caribbean Civilisation”.
Other winners in the Section of the Year competition were Dragons Cultural Organisation with “Fantasy” from their portrayal Fanfare in second place, while “Pearl” from High Voltage’s “Glitta and Glamour” placed third in the Sections parade.
Jenilee Glasgow, depicting “Neon” from KFC SVG Players International “Viva Las Vegas” took second spot in the Individual competition, followed by Mastus Brewster’s Fandango from Heineken Dragons Cultural Organisation’s “Fanfare”.
