Transitions lenses and the brand

Share

Do you remember the days when the Kleenex was called a Kleenex, a Hoover was a Hoover, Baygon was Baygon and Clorox was Clorox?

Nowadays, when we need dish washing liquid, we say please pass me the Squeezy. Or when we need bleach we ask for the Clorox. How about Baygon instead of insecticide?{{more}}

The reason we do this is because we have identified ourselves with the brand. This only happens when the brand is tried and tested.

We say Nike shoes when we mean sneakers, not necessarily the Nike brand. Oftentimes we pay more if we buy the brand name, because we know that the brand name will deliver on its promises. This is because there are so many similar products on the market today.

The same goes for eye wear and lenses. A lot of us say “I wear transitions lenses” when what we really mean is that we wear photochromic lenses. Transitions ™ is a brand. It is a photochromic lens.

Photochromic lenses are lenses that are initially clear, but darken on exposure to sunlight. When indoors, the lenses gradually return to their clear state. Photochromic lenses may be made of glass, polycarbonate, or other plastics. Transitions ™ are the best known photochromic lenses on the market.

They provide visual comfort and enhance visual quality, helping you to see better, just like the way sunblock protects your skin, Transitions ™ lenses block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays.

The Transitions ™ company now includes a certificate of authenticity with every pair of lenses. This is to reinforce the value of wearing Transitions lenses and the Transitions brand.

The company says: “The response to the Certificate of Authenticity from consumers and eyecare professionals has been incredibly positive. The Certificate of Authenticity has provided an important opportunity to reinforce the significance of the patient’s purchase at the time of pick-up.

So, when purchasing photochromic lenses, make sure you know the difference. Ask your eye care practitioner.

Also ask for a Certificate of Authenticity when you purchase Varilux lenses. These are the best known progressive lenses (no-line bifocals) on the market, with the Varilux ellipse lens being the smallest and at the same time, most comfortable progressive lens currently available. This eliminates the need for bigger frames when fitting progressive lenses.

So, when in doubt check it out.
