The success of succession is determined by the people

St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) will be among 144 countries celebrating Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is a grassroots movement, founded to celebrate and empower women and support women in business to alleviate poverty.

And, according to local world ambassador of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Candice Sealey, Ignite! will lead the way in celebrating SVG’s female entrepreneurs at an empowerment brunch this Sunday at Chill’n, Kingstown from 10 a.m.

“The celebration will feature inspirational female speakers, such as Ms René Baptiste, managing partner of Baptiste & Co Law Firm Inc and former Minister of Tourism and Culture, as well as former Minister of Urban Development, Culture, Labour and Electoral Matters before her return to the law in 2011; Ms Kimya Glasgow, CEO of apparel and lifestyle company, Kimya Glasgow Designs Inc, who has also served as director of the SVG Small Business Association and is currently a council member of the SVG Industry of Chamber and Commerce, the National Cultural Foundation, as well as the creative director at Image Modelling Agency; Ms Annette Mark, director of Invest SVG will offer remarks as well,” Sealey said.

She said the event will also see a PITCH session, where female entrepreneurs with a business idea will pitch their idea to a panel and receive valuable feedback to help them transmute the idea into a reality.

“Furthermore, the brunch will also facilitate an open session for entrepreneurs to share their successes and challenges, which can serve to help other entrepreneurs experiencing similar issues and female entrepreneurs bringing their business cards also have the chance to walk away with prizes,” Sealey said to support what female entrepreneurs can expect at the brunch.

“I am thrilled to be initiating this type of event in SVG. The response from the public and the business community has been encouraging.”

Sealey said persons wishing to attend the brunch should RSVP by this Friday, November 17 at Chill’n or call 432-2223. She noted that the activities for the Global Entrepreneurship week have been going well and as a result, it has been decided to carry the activities until the end of November, particularly to facilitate the MAKE IT HAPPEN VIDEO COMPETITION.

The Make It Happen Video Competition gives early start-up businesses the opportunity to submit a five-minute video pitch of their business for judging by a panel and the public, with a chance to win prizes, including exposure to funding from Global Domination Capital, a fintech company registered in Trinidad & Tobago, as well as receive free and discounted marketing services from Ignite!
